The North Carolina Walking Horse Association sponsors a series of events to promote the Tennessee Walking Horse. Additionally, the Association affiliates horse shows in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and East Tennessee giving our members an opportunity to exhibit and showcase the Tennessee Walking Horse.
Known for a gentle disposition and a smooth rolling gait, the Tennessee Walking Horse was bred in the middle Tennessee area to be a utility horse. The running walk is an inherited, natural gait that is unique to this breed. Whether on a Sunday afternoon trail ride or participating in a performance show, the versatility of the breed shines bright and attracts enthusiasts of all ages.
